FAQ

Can’t I just do my own research?

Yes. There are so many how to’s out there, but do you want to take the time and spend the money to learn it all?

Why should you have me do your genealogy?

I received a certificate of Genealogical Research from Boston University. I regularly attend classes and conferences to stay up to date on new resources and tools. I have membership and subscriptions to databases and resources the average hobbyist does not.

How do we start?

I will send you a questionnaire asking basic questions about your family. The more information and documentation you can provide me the better. I will also send a contract which explains your privacy rights and my fees.

Results can be different from what you expected. Results can be shocking. I’m not here to judge, just to report what I find. We can keep information as private or public as you would like but there is always the possibility of data breeches.

I’m an adoptee, can you find my family?

Simple answer is, it depends. Please message me and we can talk about it.

How can a DNA test help me?

It can help you resolve brick walls. It can help identify biological families. It can help narrow a location in which to search.

Can you reach out to people for me?

I do not “first contact” people on behalf of my clients. If I see information as part of my research I will give that information to you the client. However, if someone contacts me first and you wish to open communication, I can be an intermediary on your behalf.
