Services

Free Consultations–  This is a free 1-on-1 consultation where we can discuss your project, establish your goals, and determine the best course of action to meet your needs.

Record Lookups– If all you need is to locate a specific record but you don’t know how or don’t have the time, I can do it for you. There are several price options depending on your needs starting at $15. *Records can be instantly obtained or take up to a year.

Family Tree/Pedigree Chart Verification– If you have inherited a tree or made one yourself, I can provide a second set of eyes look it over. Please provide the documents used to prepare the family tree (such as birth, marriage, death, census, newspaper articles, etc). Prices start at $20/hr. (Additional costs if documents are not available and need to be obtained by researcher.)

Single Ancestor Biographies- Have you heard an amazing story about a relative but don’t know if it is true? Have you never heard anything about a relative but want to learn something? I can do the research and write up a biography for you. This could include newspaper articles, local history, maps, and timelines. Biography price rates are $25/hr with a minimum of five hours.

Research Report-  A research report is based upon a client defined research goal to start or extend a family tree. I will write a report of all information found during the research process including analysis and reconciliation of the documents (document images provided).  The report includes full citations, a research log showing positive and negative results/spelling variations/websites used/etc, a pedigree chart, a timeline, and future research suggestions. These reports may also include local or world history, maps, and photos for context.  Price rates for research are $25/hr with a minimum of 20 hours or save $50 if you choose 40+ hours of research. A twenty hour research report includes the research, analysis, preparing charts and write up for a single family group or three generations. However, the scope of the report can vary tremendously based on what records are provided and what information is available.  *These reports do not include the purchasing of vital records.

1-1 Tutoring- You want to do the work yourself but have hit a brick wall or don’t know how to get started? We can meet in person or online and walk through your specific road blocks.  I can provide charts/logs/organization tips and talk to you about websites that would be useful to your research. Consultations are free to discuss if tutoring is right for you.  Tutoring fees are $25/hr.

DNA Testing- You took a DNA test but you don’t know how to make sense of the results. Don’t worry you are not alone and I can help you.  I can organize your matches, find common surnames, common locations and compile available trees for overlap. Please be aware that ethnicity estimates are estimates and constantly changing as more DNA tests are added to databases and models are refined.  These estimates do not always match the paper trail.  I do not guarantee you have/will have matches in available databases, that trees will overlap with your DNA or that matches to your DNA test will be willing to share their family trees. I also do not provide DNA tests.  DNA analysis services are $45/hr since they typically involve fewer hours than some of the other services described above.

Additional Expenses- photo copying fees, printing fees, mileage fees, parking fees, mailing costs, entrance fees, translation fees, etc. These costs will not exceed $25 without prior approval.

IMPORTANT:

  • I do not make any guarantees. Records may no longer exist, information may be incorrect, records may not be available at this time.
  • A 20% down payment is required and is non refundable. This payment is for my time searching for records not the results of the search. You will be provided with a research log to catalog negative research results or any applicable information.
  • It is your responsibility to provide me with accurate and detailed information and any records you have access to in order to help me identify your relatives from others of the same name.
  • Every project is different and as such results can vary. One family line may be very  well documented and another may have very little information available.
  • Information in documents is only as reliable as the person giving the information. Information may differ from document to document. Examples: Woman tend to age less than 10 years between census records. Obituaries often contain errors. Men  often lied about their ages to join military or obtain jobs.
